INCIDENT REPORT
Weeks Drag On...
- March 29, 1986 — The radio is abuzz with news of the mysterious "shadow-men" that have been cropping up in graffiti all across the city. They appear to be somehow connected to the rash of arson that has claimed several buildings since the blizzard.
- In other news, authorities continue to investigate the brutal murder of Trump Tower investment banker, Noah Sanders, whose body was found in a secret apartment leased under his name. Though the DA has yet to give an official statement, sources indicate that an intricate money laundering scheme may have been motive for the mob-style hit.
- On the Kindred side of things, this is a time of change. Two of the Tremere chantries have fallen — the Kenilworth and the Jewish Museum. Along with them, so too have their Regents — Ephraim Wainwright and Mordechai Gurvich — been met with the Final Death. In their stead, Aisling Sturbridge has ascended to the position of "High Regent of the Chantry of the Five Boroughs," and Eugenio Estevez to the position of Primogen. The role of Sheriff, however, remains unclaimed in the wake of Leah McKenzie's death. Fatima al-Iram, the Scourge, currently stands as the sole agent of order in New York City.
- On February 9, 1986, Halley's Comet reached its perihelion — the closest it got to the Sun. It is now heading toward Earth, expected to pass nearest on April 10, 1986. Five spacecrafts have already flown through the tail of the comet — two Japanese, two Soviet, and one European Space Agency.
- Aisling Sturbridge is holding vigil leading up to the passing of Halley's Comet. Throughout the day and night, deep in the halls of the Sigma Delta Tau (ΣΔΤ) sorority house, the chantry at Barnard College recite incantations in dead languages. Ghouls and mortal retainers during the day, and Kindred throughout the night. The nights' procession seem to be growing in fervency, but to what end?
- Even the Gangrel have recognized the significance of this astronomical event. Though they do not wait to indulge their revelry. Rather, tonight is the night of the Wild Hunt, led by Jezebel and the Jawbreakers. An invitation having previously been extended to Aradia herself.
The Pipes are Calling...
- A strange correspondence awaits both Justine and Catalina as they rouse with the sunset. Carefully slipped under the doors of their havens, lies a neatly folded piece of laid paper. A blot of crimson wax seals the front edge, itself stamped with an ankh. Inside, in a beautiful ephemera script, is an invitation for 10:00pm tonight at the Wicked Monk Public House in Brooklyn. It remains unsigned.
- Josi is also on her way to the Wicked Monk Public House, to host a wake in honor of her fallen coterie mate, Leah McKenzie. But first, she must make a pitstop, leaving Alter to idle his car outside of St. Patrick's Cathedral. Inside, Josi is directed to the dark box after inquiring about Father Aramis. She need not wait long, and is greeted through the screen. Fr. Aramis proceeds to walk her through the Sacrament of Penance, but his tone betrays an unspoken understanding as to why she came. Josi slides a sealed envelope through the partition. It contains a report for Ishmæl Zamora, the Sabbat Inquisitor who had removed the infernal sigil from Josi's arm in repayment of a boon held by her sire, Pius Augustus. Inquisitor Zamora had also lead the coterie in the Auctoritas Ritae of the Vaulderie — the Vinculum that promoted inter-coterie cooperation and prevented outside blood bounds. In exchange, he requested that they report any further information in regards to the infernalists apparently hiding throughout the city.
- Aradia arrives early at the Wicked Monk Public House, helping Juniper to set up for their planned musical tribute. Archer is also already present, his usual suit jacket paired with Clan McKenzie's tartan kilt. He's helped to assemble an ofrenda of sorts near the stage — candles, newspaper clipping about the Mosh Pit, a banner with the clan crest, and even a framed photo of Leah from when she was mortal.
- Josi notices Justine and Lina enter separately, though both somewhat early for the wake. Not sure of who they are, she approaches, asking how they knew Leah. They apparently didn't, and both produce seemingly identical letters notifying them of the time and place. Aradia overhears, and makes her way over. Curious, the four thoroughly eye the letters. They smell vaguely of patchouli, and are inked in blood. The wax seal, though not an immediately known crest, bares a similarity to the stylized ankh used by the Camarilla. Aradia wills her focus forward, pushing it onto one of the letters, trying to get a sense of any lingering numen. Her Beast lashes out however, and before she can think to stop herself, she has crumpled the letter up and swallowed it. Immediately her eyes glaze over as flashes of insight spring to mind — an empty theatre, a lithe hand with darkened nails, a cracked porcelain face. Aradia also gets a taste of the blood which makes up the flowing font — it's Kindred vitae.
