INCIDENT REPORT

There's a New Sheriff in Town...

  • The coterie take the new Sheriff, Johnny Five shopping, in hopes of replacing his grungy aesthetic for something more appropriate. They end up at Safeword, where Justine is immediately recognized. The clerk, Chastity, gives her access to the employee washroom, via a key attached to a leather paddle.

  • Josi has the unfortunate task of helping Johnny wash up after disrobing. He tells her that she'll need to be able to handle "counter arguments" if she's to aid him in his work. The rest of the coterie scavenge an outfit for the Sheriff, whether it be from the racks in the front of the shop, or right off of the employee dressing tables.
Johnny Five's refreshed look includes his old spurs and a newly stolen fur-lined coat.
  • When all is said and done, Johnny ends up in sliver stretch pants, black leather chaps, a purple crop top, and steel-toe biker boots with his old spurs attached. Added in is a studded black cowboy hat and a stolen fur-lined leather coat. He complains about the pants being "akin to a cheaply made castle" but is otherwise pleased.
  • The coterie then take Johnny to the site of the Mosh Pit, as the obvious starting point of their investigation into Sheriff McKenzie's death. The building is mostly rubble, having collapsed in on itself due to fire damage. The subbasement is filled with the wreckage of what once stood. Josi and Lina can both smell death emanating from somewhere deep in the rubble. Aradia and Justine can see firefly like entities slowly floating upward out of the hole of a foundation, many gathering in the alleyway.
  • Moving into the alleyway beside the building, Johnny is shown where the shadowman graffiti was. Aradia pulls a sketch of the graffiti from her journal, where she had been planning to incorporate it into a mural. Upon inspecting the sketch itself, Johnny remarks "VII? Seven? 7, 7, 7, 7... 98?" before trailing off. Aradia drifts from attention as she falls into a vision. She sees a hooded figure placing the shadowmen along the wall, using some concoction of spray-paint and blood. The man turns to leave, revealing his face — it's Juggler!

  • In explaining their previous encounter with Juggler, the coterie apparently triggers a thought from Johnny. He explains that Dr. Crowley had him dredge Silver Lake, in Staten Island, over the course of several nights. She was looking for a sword, apparently made of "cold iron". It's supposed to be able to help in her stand against the fae. She's narrowed the true location of the sword down to only a few possible lakes throughout the city. Unfortunately, Baron Callahan has caught wind of the legend, and is seeking the sword for himself... to somehow symbolize his authority.
  • The coterie parts ways with Johnny to follow individual leads. Once Johnny is now longer in sight, Josi explains to Lina and Justine that she stills has the Betamax tape implicating Dr. Crowley in the events of the Anarch Rant... the one she supposedly gave the only copy of to Johnny.

The Dead and the Dying...

  • Returning to the Center for Thanatology, the coterie find that Pius has been entertaining Jezebel and Vixen, as well as giving Delilah some of his own vitae. Delilah is still in torpor however, with her trunk cleaved nearly in half. Josi shows everyone to a conference room, then returns to try to help alleviate some of Delilah's injuries. She manages to pull Delilah's torn form back together, keeping it in place with stitches. She administers some bagged blood, then leaves Delilah unconscious but mending.
  • Josi recommends that Delilah be left to heal under observation. Jezebel is hesitant, but eventually convinced. She does however make it clear that Josi should not make her regret this decision. Josi empathizes and secures Delilah in a morgue drawer after everyone leaves.
  • Aradia shows Justine and Lina to her penthouse. Justine hunkers into the downstairs bathtub, with Jacques and Didier on the rug by the toilet. Lina and Aradia take the upstairs bed. As daysleep takes hold, Aradia experiences the sights and sounds of Maria Bentos, as only she can — through her dreams. She relives the last several weeks of the young woman's life, giving her a better insight into what Juggler may be up to. Aradia startles herself awake — it's night, and she's covered in blood. Her stigmata has taken hold, and covered the bed — and Lina — in cold vitae.

  • After getting cleaned up, Aradia, Lina, Justine and her "friends" all drive back to the Center for Thanatology. Upon their arrival, Josi grows concerned — becoming violent even — as she sees the state of Jacques and Didier. They've been fed from too many times, and are on the verge of anemia. She can hear their hearts beating slower than they should. She can smell decay creeping in. Eventually, Justine gets her to back down, promising to take better care of them. She leads them upstairs, into the employee lunch room, and finds a couple of cans of "low sodium" Spam for them.
  • Aradia gives Josi some space to cool down, and goes to speak with Pius. She's starved from the effects of stigmata, and asks for something more nourishing than the bagged blood Josi has. Pius commands Aradia to kneel, then presents his leathery, desiccated wrist. Aradia bites in, sucking forcefully at the thick, cloying vitae. It's an oddly dull flavor, but is potent enough to make Aradia feel amazing...
