Sofia Phuong Nguyen was born to a dancer/performer in Vietnam. Her mother and father were in love. Her father was in her life until she was 7 years old. At that time, her father went back to the U.S. due to a family issue. He was killed in the U.S. Sofia's mom raised her in theaters, salons, and the homes of wealthy patrons who abused her. Sofia's mom died when she was 15. Sofia worked hard cleaning at a school and learned everything she could from the Catholic nuns. She studied English and Italian. Sofia was not allowed to attend the school because she was poor, female, and had no family. She was rejected again. Sofia finally started singing and she dated a bar owner. When she became pregnant, she was excited about the opportunity to give a daughter a better life. But her boyfriend had a temper and got angry one night and beat Sofia. She had a miscarriage. After that, she intended to leave the U.S. to start a new life. In New York City, at a dance part, Sofia was turned into a vampires. She now wants to create her own family.

HISTORY

Sofia Phuong Nguyen was born to a dancer/performer in Vietnam on April 19, 1960. Sofia’s mother was a burlesque performer and traditional musician and she performed for soldiers. Sofia’s father was an Italian American soldier sent to fight in the Vietnam War. They fell in love, but did not get legally married.

When Sofia was 7 years old, her father was called back to New York City to deal with a family issue…Sofia is not sure what. Then, she was told that her father died. But she doesn’t know the details. It’s a mystery.

Sofia’s mom raised her in theaters, salons, and the homes of wealthy patrons who physically and sexually abused both Sofia and her mom. Sofia learned to fight dirty because she was not strong enough to fight back physically. Sofia inherited her mom’s gifts and talents of music and performance, but she didn’t want to be taken advantage of, so she never performed for an audience when she was human.

Sofia’s mom died of pneumonia when Sofia was 15 (1975). Sofia got a job cleaning a Catholic school and she tried to learn everything she could from the Catholic nuns. She studied English and Italian and realized that she loved languages and literature. She even thought about going to college and becoming a poet. But she was extremely poor and didn’t know how she would pay for college.

When Sofia was 17, she started singing at a bar to make money for her education. Sofia started dating the 30 yr old bar owner. She thought he was charming and safe and would take care of her. But he was incredibly jealous of the attention that she received from the patrons. When Sofia got pregnant was she was 19 and she was excited about the opportunity to give her child a better life. She went to the local midwife who told her that she would have a daughter. Sofia was 8 months pregnant when her boyfriend flew into a jealous rage, beat her, and Sofia had a miscarriage.

Sofia found an old letter that gave the address of her Italian American relatives in New York City. She stole all of her boyfriend’s money and flew to NYC in 1980.

In NYC, Sofia could not find her relatives and she started singing in all three of her languages. She made friends with older hippies, poets, burlesque performers, playwrights, and drag performers. She lived on couches and loved “mothering” the younger teens in their community.

Sofia did not go to college, but she learned constantly. She started to become well respected and well known as a singer and songwriter. She bought a Volkswagon bus and drove from city to city with her friends, as she sang and performed.

Sofia shares everything she has with everyone. She is a socialist - anarchist and does not trust systems of government or the “fucking patriarchy.”

Sofia had a no-nonsense rule about violence, either physical or verbal. Anyone that acted violently was kicked out of her commune.

Sofia did not have one partner or lover. She considers herself to be pansexual and is open to sexual activities with all of her friends. Everyone who meets Sofia wants to be her friend.

During a New Year’s party, Sofia met a Black drag queen named Lawrence who was a vampire. They got high and talked and talked and Lawrence turned Sofia and became her sire on January 1, 1984. Sofia was 23 years old.

Sofia is excited to be a vampire. She wants to create her own family. She does not drink on her chosen family or anyone living in poverty.

In the last two years, Sofia has used her new powers to become a world renowned performer. She travels the world performing for the most elite 1% and this is who she feeds on. She drinks the blood of the most wealthy and powerful. Sometimes she drains them, but often she uses her Etiquette, Insight, and Persuasion to get them to do what she wants them to do.

Sofia is interested in finding gay men who are dying of AIDS and turning them. Right now, she had 4 gay vampires living in her home. She has had to kick one of them out for biting one of her human Allies.

Sofia is a Buddhist and maintains a daily yoga practice. Sofia uses her money to care for all of the people in her life, both vampire and human. In fact, she believes that vampires have the responsibility to create an anarchist utopia. She wants vampires to protect the poor and innocent and destroy the powerful patriarchy.
